How to Track a Package?

Do you want to know exactly where your package is when you send it? Here is a guide to the technique behind package tracking.

Track and trace, alsoå known as package tracking, allows you to follow where your package is on any time. Even if your package is not equipped with a GPS, you can always see where it was last scanned. Whether it's UPS, DHL, FedEx or TNT, they all work on the same principle.

When you send a package, it will be equipped with a package label that contains a barcode. This barcode acts as the package's ID or "fingerprint". With the help of this ID, you can track the shipment from sender to recipient. If you send multiple packages to different destinations, you can track each package separately and find out where it was last scanned.

Tracking Regardless of Supplier

Today, all shipping companies use track and trace, both to keep track of; the packages internally and to allow customers to track their shipments. When a UPS employee scans a package label, they get access to all information about the package, such as destination, origin, weight, dimensions, sender and receiver, and the priority of the shipment. The same applies to DHL, FedEx and TNT. Each company has its own system, soå tracking cannot be done on between companies.

GLS calls it "package tracking" on Danish, but the principle is the same. PostNord offers some shipments without track and trace, but at ervespakke.dk you can always track your shipments, also if they are sent with PostNord or Bring.
